Gmail IMAP support

05 November 2007

A feature that I think many many people have been waiting for (except Kai) has finally arrived in Gmail: IMAP support.

With the purchase and hacking of the iPod Touch I’ve now got the prospect of reading my mail across three different devices. All my other mail accounts are IMAP, which makes doing that a significantly better experience. I could barely wait to get into Gmail and flick the big switch.

The thing is though, IMAP support hasn’t arrived for a lot of us. I’ve been checking practically everyday since I first heard, and nothing. Thankfully I stumbled across a comment in reply to a blog post on Gmail IMAP support whilst browsing my feeds.

Apparently getting IMAP support is as simple as changing your language to English (US) in the general settings bit in Gmail. I tried it, and it works. Cushdy.
